Galashiels Walking Festival
27th April at 9:30 am - 3:30 pm
In conjunction with Discover Scottish Borders – a local platform that promotes the myths, legends and ancient sites of the Scottish Borders Explore and learning about the Catrail. Built around the 4th and 5th AD centuries the Catrail is a linear earthwork that cuts through the Galashiels area. On our way we make our way we will visit sites of Iron Age Forts and a Broch and tales and legends of the Roman and Iron Age Transport included both ways.
This is a moderate/ long walk which is 8.5 miles/14km with a 400 metres ascent and will take 6 hours to complete.

Please arrive at the walk registration centre 30 minutes before the time of your walk, which is located at the Focus centre, Galashiels TD1 1DQ. Here you will meet your walk leader. Hot drinks and home baking will be available at the registration centre after each walk.
What to Wear and Bring:
It is essential that walkers come equipped with suitable footwear, clothing and equipment. This may include a fleece, waterproof jacket, walking boots, hat, gloves, bottle of water, high energy food, walking pole, sunglasses.
We are committed to running the weekend safely and appreciate your cooperation with this. However, participants take part in walks at their own risk and we cannot accept responsibility for any accident.
If you have a health condition that you think is relevant, please make the leaders aware of this prior to the walk. Dogs (except guide dogs) are not allowed on festival walks.
Persons under the age of 16 should be accompanied by a paying adult. Participants must not smoke on walks or at events.
